[Why] is Greater Than [What]

#FPF – Week 34

Following your feedback toward the end of last year – I am going to be working even more video content into these posts.

Accordingly, I thought I would share an older piece of content that has been on my mind a lot, especially recently, while sitting in so many strategic planning meetings for new/existing clients.  Accomplished marketer, public speaker and author: Simon Sinek shares his thesis on the single most important thing we need to remember as business owners and high-level professionals:

“People don’t buy what you do, they buy WHY you do it…”

In business (and in life), we are all trying to either build tribes, or join them…  We gravitate toward those that share similar interests and beliefs.

[There are hundreds of companies that sell shoes, but very few that donate one pair of shoes for every one pair sold like TOMS does] – hence, a tribe is formed…

“People don’t buy what you do, they buy WHY you do it…”

Take some time to watch the video below and think about how the interactions within your own organization (both internally and externally) can be improved for the long-term by leading with the WHY of your business.  Enjoy!

What is your company’s WHY?  Is your personal WHY different?

Thank you for reading/watching and have a great weekend!
