Holiday Reflections

#FPF – Week 30

Hi Jim, I’m taking a break from the regular #FPF format today to reflect on the Holiday Season.

As a kid, Christmas was magical.  A time when Santa was real and you received the new bike or electric guitar that you had been yearning for the whole year prior.  Now, we are so caught up in the hustle and bustle of fighting crowds and braving the traffic that we have lost the bits that made this time of year so special…

We forget that each year, thousands of children miss out on the Holiday traditions that most of us take for granted. For many, Christmas is just another day… The Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County seeks to change that for the members of their clubs by holding an annual Holiday dinner/party for those that would otherwise not have the opportunity to experience the festivities of the season. For some, this is the only Christmas dinner they will eat… and the only presents they will receive.

I have been privileged to participate in this event for over 15 years and was excited for the opportunity for Captivation to help share the evening through the eyes of club member Jacob (age 6).

All too often, we forget what the Holidays are truly about. It is our hope that as you watch this video you reflect on what is really important: your family, your friends and your experiences.

Have a great weekend and a very Merry Christmas!
